The curtain falls on the second session of the PAP’Mer project

The second session of the PAP’Mer project (Pre-Marine Adaptability Program) concluded with a seamanship workshop.

It was a session that was both practical and enjoyable, during which the four participants learned essential sailing knots and had one last chance to interact with the instructors before moving on to the next stage of their professional careers.

A program to learn about and try out the life of a commercial fisherman

PAP’Mer offers young people and adults seeking career change or reorientation the opportunity to:

  • learn about the life of a commercial fisherman,
  • experience life on board commercial fishing vessels,
  • identify training and job placement options that are suited to their goals.

This session helped participants build on what they had learned and opened up concrete opportunities for them moving forward.

Committed partners

We would like to thank our partners:

  • Regional Committee for Marine Fisheries and Aquaculture (CRPMEM) of Réunion,
  • France Travail,
  • Maritime Training School (EAM).

A big thank you also to the workshop presenters, particularly the Léon de Lépervanche Vocational High School and the Réunion Region, for their insights into existing maritime training programs and available funding options.

What happens next?

The third edition of PAP’Mer is already underway, and registration is open!
This new session looks promising, with an expanded intake and enhanced support throughout the entire program.

Funded by the CAA Fund of the National Committee for Marine Fisheries and Aquaculture (CNPMEM) and the Réunion Region.
