The Blue Institute launches the Blue Economy Directory!

This tool was designed to address a specific need: to better understand, connect, and promote the organizations that contribute to the sustainable development of marine and coastal activities. The blue economy encompasses a wide range of sectors, from fishing to marine renewable energy, including research, tourism, and the shipbuilding industry.

The Institut Bleu, in partnership with the Réunion Maritime Cluster, announces the official launch ofthe Blue Economy Directory, an online platform designed to bring together and connect all stakeholders in Réunion’s blue economy.

🌊 One goal: to bring people together and create synergies

More than just a simple directory, the directory aims to promote:

  • connecting businesses, institutions, organizations, researchers, and local governments,

  • the emergence of collaborations and joint projects,

  • supporting innovation by raising the profile of local expertise,

  • and, more broadly, the expansion of Réunion’s maritime network.

The 8 major areas covered by the directory

Reunion’s blue economy is centered around eight main sectors, reflecting the diversity and richness of marine-related activities:

  1. Government Operations at Sea

  2. Environment, Research & Innovation

  3. Shipbuilding and ship maintenance

  4. Fishing and Seafood

  5. Blue Tourism and Water Sports

  6. Maritime Transport & Port Infrastructure

  7. Marine Renewable Energy

  8. Support and guidance

This allows every stakeholder to find their place in the directory and help better organize the local maritime ecosystem.

A tool available to everyone

The directory is open to all and free of charge. Any organization involved in the blue economy is invited to register in order to join the community and increase its visibility. The more organizations that sign up, the more effective the tool will become in supporting economic development and the maritime transition in Réunion.
