The third edition of PAP’Mer successfully wraps up 2025

The third edition of the PAP’Mer project successfully concluded in Réunion, bringing together 14 participants who were exploring, retraining for, or transitioning into careers as commercial fishermen.

Led by the Institut Bleu, PAP’Mer aims to provide hands-on insight into the realities of the marine fishing industry, a key pillar of the region’s blue economy.

⚓ An immersive experience at the heart of the fishing industry

Throughout the program, participants were able to benefit from:

  • sea dives,
  • an introduction to life on board,
  • opportunities to network with industry professionals,
  • and personalized support to identify training and career placement opportunities tailored to their goals.

This immersive approach allows participants to better understand the demands of the profession, as well as its opportunities, in a constantly evolving industry.

🪢 A knot-tying workshop to wrap up the session

The session concluded with a knot-tying workshop, which was both educational and enjoyable. Participants had the opportunity to learn the essential marine knots—which are indispensable for their profession—while spending some final time interacting with one another before continuing on their professional paths.

A highlight that perfectly captures the spirit of the PAP’Mer project: learning by doing, passing on maritime skills, and fostering connections among stakeholders.

🤝 Partners committed to supporting maritime routes

The Institut Bleu would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to all the partners who contributed to the success of this third edition:

  • the CRPMEM of Réunion,
  • France Travail,
  • the Maritime Training School (EAM),
  • Les Apprentis d’Auteuil, Océan Indien, who joined us to help recruit candidates.

A big thank you also to the workshop speakers and to the Réunion Region for their presentations on maritime training programs and the funding options available to support future maritime professionals.

💙 A project supported and funded

  • the CAA Fund of the National Committee for Marine Fisheries and Aquaculture (CNPMEM),
